Engine Paint Recommendations

Looking to refinish the paint and decals on my motor this winter. I've been reading all the threads I can find and most suggest zinc chromate and the marine spray paints. I've used these in the past and they never seem to be as good (or as durable) as a factory finish.

I'm considering using a catalyzed auto paint like amerflint or emeron over the proper zinc chromate and primer mix. Is this a good idea?

Your idea is a good one for the top coat.

Prep is always the key. Degrease the engine, wash with 50/50 solution of vinegar and water, then apply zinc chromate.
