Cavitation plate height on pontoon boat?

First Pontoon boat, 20ft Aqua Chalet 1993. I am putting a johnson 75 hp stinger outbaord on it and need to know if cavitation plate must be level with bottom of pontoon OR level with water line on pontoon? motor is long shaft 20"

Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />All the way down is the most common, but on some you have to raise it a hole or two to keep the splash down. The water will probably run about even with the bottom of the motorwell. That's your target, not the toons.
