Tohatsu-Nissan-Mercury 9.8-15 HP

Is there any difference in these small motors except the price?<br />There is about $245 difference in the 15/18 hp motors, what is the difference in these two motors. <br />I am have problems w/my 15 HP Honda and maybe looking to replace it w/above. Idea/suggetions welcome.

The 9.8 T/N does not use the twist grip shift that Mercury does. In all other respects they are the same except for the shade of black/blue and the price.

Elvin, what is the difference between the 15/18hp? I use it for a kicker/trolling motor on my SeaCraft 23WA.

How do you figure that with them having the same bore and stroke? Wouldn't it just be a bigger jetted carb, maybe slightly larger intake and exhaust valves, and not much else? It's only 3 hp more...

Internetoutboards sells them and works on the motors, so I guess they should know what they speak of. Just my humble opinion:-}

Quite a few models, in a variety of brands, may share many parts. For instance: The T/N/M 4,5 and 6 4-stk share everything except the carb. The T/N 25 and 30 2-stk share everything except a carb mounting gasket. Some, like the T/N/M 15 and 18 4-stk share the same frame, but have differences in the block, cam shaft, etc. It just varys from model to model
