I have a Sailmaster 7.5, which my research has shown is a Johnson. Based upon the model number ( J8SRLCTA ), I think the motor is a 1983.

I don't know anything about this motor (or actualy boat motors at all, since this is my first one).

I assume its a 2 stroke.

My questions:

1. What is the proper oil:fuel ratio for the mix?

2. Current plug is NKG B9HS 10. The plug wire has a label which states use Champion L77J4 or AC M40FFX. Is there a preference for one particular plug? If so, why is one better?

3. What is the correct gap for the plugs?

Thanks for any info you have.

50:1 1 pint oil/6 gallons gas.
Champion is preferred plug.
I think .040, someone will know for sure.
