It is 11" from the intake holes to the edge. I tried 2 from Amazon and they are too short. Where do I get a longer one? I prefer not to mount on the propeller side (too dangerous) unless I have no choice.

since your not supposed to put the drive in gear when on the muffs, why is it dangerous?

I had a boat with an SX duo-prop and another with a pair of SX single prop drives. I slid the muffs on from the prop side. There were no issues, except that the V-8 engine would slowly start to overheat if I ran it for too long on the muffs.

I use the shorter one from the prop side, never had an issue. If you are worried, remove the prop

The impeller/raw water pump is driven by the crankshaft on a VP.

There should be a hose connection for your water hose (normally starboard/rear of engine)...no need for muffs.

Muffs looks too short, works well when flushing ports matches middle muffs, muff's extreme are nearly blocking lower leg water intakes, expect poor water pressure. Check if engine has a external flushing port, some sort of water plug to remove and connect a water hose there..
