Hello, I've bought a 15hp outboard motor for my 14ft boat. I'd like to sell it but i never got a title or any registration when i bought it but a bill of sale. I live in Michigan and i was wondering if anyone new if i needed to get a title for the outboard motor in order to sell it?

Thanks

If you didn't need a title to register it, shouldn't need one to sell it.

You'll want to fill out a bill of sale though.

Here in Canada the boat must be titled if powered but anything less than 10 horse power doesn't need a title. I believe many US States are similar, thus the 9.9 HP ratings and not 10HP.

Why don't you just call the MI DMV? It's quicker, will only cost you a nickle, and you'll get the correct answer.

When i bought my etec in 2012 in michigan all i got was a bill of sale.I was exporting it to ontario so maybe thats why? Also paid no mich sales tax and no added paperwork for canada other than sales tax.No reg, title, lisc or anything else.
