How large of a motor

I have what I believe to be a 1968 Larson All-American 146. How large of a motor can I safely put on? It had a 85 hp Mercury on it.

welcome aboard. what does the capacity plate state?

pretty sure its only rated at 75hp

Nope, rated for a 55hp, you are significantly overpowered

Esp if its a modern (post 1982) Merc 85

Thanks for the help. I was completely wrong.
I went to the Court House and received more
Information. It is a 1974 16ft All-American. It is
Rated for 6 passengers. When I posted this I
measured the lengths and it was 14ft 6in.

If it is a All American 156, even Larson is not consistent on the rating, in 68 -69 it is 75hp, in 70 if there is a god he might know, in 71 it shows 80hp.
