Earlier this summer i bought a 19'10 bass boat. While out fishing someone noticed that I had the wrong motor on my boat... i was told my boat is geared for a 20 inch motor, because I have a 20 inch transom... but my motor is a 25 inch.. Should i be concerned..Everyone I spoke too said it could be dangerous...

Thanks Mav...

Yes, be concerned.
And it will really affect performance and handling.

A bit more info would help.
And a photo that shows a side view of the transom and motor, with motor tilted down.
Make, model, pad hull ? motor size?

Might be ok, IF you have a backplate to raise the motor up.

Otherwise, you want the Anti-ventilation plate (the large horizontal plate just above the prop ) about even (or a little above) the bottom of the hull.

Running a 25" OB sitting on a 20" transom produces a excessive water splash back or over transom at speed along huge water drag. To cure that issue will need a engine mount or a jack plate to rise engine to match a 20" transom height.

Happy Boating
