1989 Searay 180 bow rider 135hp Searay outboard

Help! I just bought a 1989 Searay 180 bow rider. It has a "135 hp searay" outboard on it. I'm assuming it's a mercury or mariner motor but I can not find the serial number on it anywhere. Is the s# stamped somewhere under the cowl? The tag on the transom mount appears to be missing. How else can I find info on it. Thanks on advance.

If you look under the cowl there should be a silver dollar size welch plug you may find a sin there.Plug is in the block.
