15 ft sprint bass boat, question is would repowering from a 40 tohatsu to 60hp mercury make enough difference to justify the money spent? Sprint goes about 27mph now with 40 tohatsu.

if both engines are both crank rated, or both prop rated, set up correctly, have power trim and are correctly propped, expect an increase about 4 or 5 mph.

That's not enough for me to put out that extra expense and effort. Im going to look for about a 90hp.

Sprint goes about 27mph now with 40 tohatsu. At which wot rpm and how much loaded ? You need more speed, better hole shot ? Is that 40 HP a 2-4 strokes, 2-3 cylinder OB ? Is current prop the standard factory delivered one ?

You need to tach current 11 pitch prop on a wot run as usually loaded on flat calm water, if it's a 40C, runs 5200-5800 rpm, cam maximize a prop to run max wot range, but without a tach OB is dead. Personally would invest in a Hardline induction tach, check wot rpm and go for a prop maximization. Cheaper than going for any other OB.
