I'm bringing a 1992 Force 150 back to life and would like to add a fuel/water separator. I've tried to find as many related topics as I can because my question is so simple but can't find an answer. Do you keep in factory under cowl filter or delete it ?

On my boats the primer bulb is between the fuel/water separator and the motor, and in my experience even the newest "reformulated rubber" primer ball is going to be the first thing to start flaking off bits inside the fuel line. I keep the under-cowl filter, too.

And place a fuel shut off valve between the tank and the separator.
Makes for less mess and less gas spillage when you change the filter.
