My thought was that it would be fine for the older engines or lower HP motors. I would not use it in my newer 150 HP as oil is not so expensive as to take the chance. I think I will use it on my project driveway motors as they are not going to be run hard or run for extended periods. I will also use it on my metal tanks while they are in storage, maybe a quart poured into the tank just to keep the rust from forming.
I too remember using Amoco unleaded gas in my outboards as a kid. I also mixed SAE 30 oil at 24 to 1. I can also remember seizing a few of the old motors.
Anyway I agree with both sides here to some point. It can be used for limited applications and it will be.
