Merc 888 questions

I'm new to boating. My boss gave me a 76 Searay SRV190 with a Mercruiser 888 I/O.

It runs well.

I would like to know what type of lifters this engine has(hydraulic or solid?).

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Yer motor is 'bout the same as the same V8 motor Ford was puttin' in pickup trucks that year,....

Most all the internal motor parts will swap without problems,.....

MerCruiser did some different things with Ford engines. One was a 302 block with 351 heads and some used a different cam so the firing order wasn't the same as auto. Might be best to consult a factory manual before repairs.
