like said before most engines are killed by rust due to lack of use, water intrusion due to faulty manifolds, faulty winterizing , overheating, wrong ingition timing or leanburn etc and not due to typical wear out.

i guess an engine with a good maintanance and setup , some little care not to gun it when its cold is good for an entire life of the hull.
