Hi I was given a beast of a boat. It is in great shape but I dont know if it has the OEM motor or what it is from. PO said it is a 300 straight 6 motor OMC/chevy.

Motor is all rebuilt, all it needs is the tune up parts. I will get some pictures tonight.

I checked on bayliners site but didnt see anything

BLBB41SJC686 is the numbers on her.

For 1986 it would likely have a Volvo drive. Starting in 87 it would be a OMC Cobra.

I really doubt it has a straight six in there. More likely a 5.7L Chevy.

Straight six for sure and a big one at that. I got all the leafs and crap out of the way last night. I will get some pics and try and find some numbers on her.

Sounds like it is after market install, all the bayliner web sites says Volvo motors. I wonder what i am getting into now! lol

But hey if it runs I will be happy. Boat is in great shape. Cleaned out the cuddy and everything is there and in great shape for 1986.

Picture Time!

The stern drive didnt come with. He has a bunch of them in a shed I can pick one out in the spring.

I got lots of pictures and numbers! It is an OMC GM motor. But which one! I hope the 250

Pictures are coming

Big rubber boot on the back where the outdrive comes through the transom?

I'm thinking you've got the makings of a "Franken-Stringer." Proceed carefully. I've got the Chevy 250 I6 in mine, it's rated as a 165HP which sounds pretty light grade for a 26' boat.

Ayuh,.... As noted, the 250 cid is only 165 hp,.... in a 26' barge, that'll be like paddlin' a battleship,....

No Title

LOL well I know why it was free now! So it will be good for trolling for muskie and drinking beer.

Honestly I would trade it for a 10' lummie and 4hp johnson right now.

Wow...what a mess. I would give it back. I am serious!

Volvo adapter plate with a Mercruiser transom assembly with a chevy 6 cyl engine and OMC exhaust manifolds. That's pretty much the biggest mess I have ever seen.

And to top it off, you will have a boat that won't get on plane.

This is why free boats aren't really free.
