It may have been made later in cars/trucks but you would need a marine rated fuel system for it that doesn't exist.

If the cyl head ports are the same as the old carbed version sold here, you could adapt an old Merc manifold and find a marine rated carb to work with that.
Actually an inline engine is a good choice in a boat because they're easier to service lots of room on the sides. They are long though.
I would have also liked to see a marinized version of the Jeep/Chrysler inline 242 cu in (4.0l) six but that was never used in any marine application.
