What grease is recommended with the Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive?

Spline Grease different from the Gimbal Bearing/U-Joint Grease? I think the answer is yes. Can anyone tell me exactly which grease is which so I can order it? Any other greases needed that I am forgetting?

Is this the right stuff?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/121149407761?lpid=82
In the second picture this stuff seems to be good for the Spline, Gimbal, U-Joints, and even the trailer/suspension?

I've also seen mention of 2-4-C grease? Any info on 1 grease that can do most, or different greases for the different spots will be helpful.

Thanks!

So I Googled more and this is what I found:

Quicksilver 2 4 C Marine Lubricant with Teflon 227g Part Number 92 802859Q1
http://www.falmouthyachtbrokers.co.u...-802859Q1.aspx
Says it is for:
-Steering cable and linkages- 50 hours or once a year
-Throttle and shift cables and linkages- 50 hours
-Remote controls- 50 hours or once a year
-Grease fittings- 50 hours or once a month
-Prop shaft- 50 hours or once every other month
-Swivel pin- 50 hours or once every other month
-Drive shaft splines- 50 hours or once a year
-Tilt lock mechanisms- Once every 50 days
-Tilt tube- Once every days

Quicksilver U Joint and Gimbal Bearing Lube Part Number 92 802870Q1
http://www.falmouthyachtbrokers.co.u...-802870Q1.aspx
Says it is for:
-Quicksilver U-Joint and Gimbal Bearing Grease

The eBay one I listed earlier says it replaces a bunch of others, so maybe that one can be used in place of them all now?
Mercruiser U Joint & Gimbal Bearing Lube 92-802870Q1 92-8M0071841

All these options got me confused.

Unless someone tells me different, I guess either the 1, or these other 2 greases are the answer.

i don't have a genII drive. mines and mc-1. but i'll guess the greases we use would be the same.
i have three greases i use. you mentioned all of them.

2-4-c, use on most everthing that don't take the other 2 greases
ujoint and gimble brg. grease, use it on ujoints and gimble brg.
and spline grease. use it on coupler splines.

so i don't have one grease that does it all, i keep all three on hand and use where mercruiser specifies i use it.

I recall reading something that said NOT to use 2-4-C on the gimbal bearing, because the teflon content of the 2-4-C made it too slippery, which caused the bearings to not roll, resulting eventually in flat spots on the bearings.

I don't fuss with getting different kinds of grease. Even though the varieties taste different, a good quality marine grease can do the job. :)

For you guys that use the green grease do you use it on everything or just the gimbal bearing?

That Green Grease looks promising. I wonder if that is what Mercruiser's idea was with the first grease I listed. Check out the labels, basically says its good for almost everything. Anywhere this new grease can't be used?

Ayuh,..... I doubt it,.... 'bout the only grease I've found that is so specific as that is 2-4-C from Merc,...

As noted above, 2-4-C is for bushin' type bearin's, not rollers or balls,....

I use Napa chassis grease for most Everything,....
The only specific grease gun, with a specific grease in it, is for 2-4-C,....
Everything else gets the chassis grease,.....

There does seem to be a difference between what is recommended for bearings vs splines...In the OMC/Volvo world, we were told to use wheel bearing grease for the gimble and -joints, and OMC triple guard grease for the driveshaft splines....I know the Triple guard as good as it is, is not for roller bearings. It appears to be a much thicker grease than the Pennzoil Marine grease I used for years till it was discontinued (recently). I have switched to Lucas Marine grease, for the gimble and ujoints. The triple guard grease is so heavy that it will still be on the prop shaft, after 6 months in salt water. The regular wheel bearing grease would never hold up like that and would be mixed with water, the Triple Guard seems much more impervious to water.....

Do you use the Napa chassis grease for the gimble bearing and u-joints?
What do you use the 2-4-C for?
