I have a 2000 merc 7.4l mpi bravo 3. I have the plastic raw water pump that went bad. Some one is offering to sell me the brass one for the same price. Has anyone done this conversion?

Thanks

The brass ones are what most folks look at as old style, yet they still make them. I pulled brass ones off and put plastic style on years ago. Only problem with the brass is the multiple gaskets used instead of one o-ring. If you want to go the best I would suggest the solid stainless steel ones put out by hardin marine.

But you also need the 3/4 inch NPT to hose fittings. For stainless steel they cost 25.00 each, or go brass from marine supply for a bit less.
