Recommended Refabricated Engine Vendors

I need to replace a 1986 OMC 4.3L engine (cracked block). I've been looking on line at different vendors and from reading reviews I'm confused as to which one's are good to deal with and which one's to stay away from. Can anyone recommend a vendor? I'm in Maryland so if you know any vendors close by would be an extra bonus but not necessary.

I personally would go to your local engine builder.

Many have had good luck with Michigan Motorz, some with Summitt Racing. Could also find a truck motor in the junk yard and go thru it, but being an 86 would be an issue. If your willing to update, could get a new carte motor, but would need to change some stuff

assuming its a 1986, and not a left over 1985, then it is a 1-piece rear main seal motor.

so any 1986-1991 longblock (non-balance shaft) would work with minimal effort.

I also would go local. The reason is if you have any trouble, you have to jump through many hoops to prove you did not cause the failure. Also they kill you with return shipping fees that you have to pay. Read the fine print before you order one. Dave-R
