Old gasoline

Hi All, now that we got some rain in California, I am finally getting ready to launch my pontoon boat on the lake (Mercury V6 I/O, 2002). The potential problem is that I haven't started the boat at least 3, may be 4 years. All that time it was just sitting outside filled up with gasoline (50 gallon tank, probably 3/4 full). So I read that the gasoline is most likely no good. So I have a few questions, BTW, I am not very savvy when it comes to engines and mechanics.
1. Does anyone know what would be the best way to test it without actually trying to get the boat in the water? And if there is a way, what parts would I need to buy?
2. Are there any additives that can "recondition" the old gasoline? Can I just top it off with a fresh one and hope for the best?
3. If not, what would be the best way to deal with the old gasoline?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

1, smell it. If it smells like paint thinner, its no longer gas. After 3 years, guarantee its not gas

2, not a thing in the world brings back fuel that has turned. Your in a pump-out and flush the system scenario.

3. Bonfire, or your local recycling center
