4.3 mercruiser/alpha one questions

Was looking at a boat with a none running engine. Guy says he ran the boat after he found the crack in the exhaust manifold. No he has no power to the gauges and no start.
He dont know if the block is cracked or not.
1000.00 boat but its a 93.
How do i tell if the block is cracked? How about the outdrive? Are they decent?

Ayuh,.... A '93 hull with a busted motor ain't worth that kinda money to Me,...

By the time ya fix the rot in the hull, 'n replace the motor, you'll have spent enough money to buy a ready to go, runnin' boat,....
