outdrive ratio

Can I get my gear ratio using just the serial number of the outdrive?

Ayuh,.... I donno,... If it's all original, Yes,... probably oughta be askin' in the Merc I/O forum though, or the Non-repair I/O forum,.....

The 4.3l usually runs a 1.65:1 or a 1.84:1,....

If ya got it off the boat, just turn the drive shaft, 'n count the prop rotations,....

Thanks for the reply, its all original and still on the boat, Its more for curiosity sake than anything else. I thought there might be a place I could just pop in the serial number and out would pop my ratio.

I found it, my bet is most of you people new where it was located and I know that is not the question I asked. I found it on the side of the drive. It is 1.81
