So recently bought a boat, prior owner put a non-marine carb on the boat.....yes I know, what an idiot! So a local marine mechanic is working up a price for me to get a new carb, vent hose off manifolds, and a tune-up on the motor. I will have his written estimate tomorrow, but I'm impatient.........ROUGHLY what do you think the average damage to my wallet will be? I'm gonna throw my guess first........ $1,800

unbolting and bolting on a carb should be less than 1 hour ,typical Q-Jet is between 850- 1000 ,vent host from valve cover to flame arrestor almost nothing

And a tune up? which I'd guess a full service of oil's changes and filters, plugs, cap, rotor, (New plug wires too?? $$), pull stern drive for inspection, etc.. A full blown service depending on marina labor rate, parts cost, fees, taxes, oil waste, etc. etc., can be anywhere from $400.00 to close to $1000.00+ alone depending on what you want or need done.

Hope you still have the/a flame arrestor that fits too. If not new ones can be over $200.00 new if you don't shop around for one at a good price. The two vent hoses can be right around 31.00 each. I could foresee the cost being close to $2000.00 for having the full "works" done by someone other than you..
