How to Size/Gear a Sterndrive to a Motor

Hi,

New to the forums here, I've read them before but first time posting.

Figured I'd ask the internet for pointers and suggestions.

I'm planning on building a custom marine Chevy 502 however I'm a bit fuzzy on how to select an out-drive that will have the proper gear ratio to ensure I'm getting the most out of my engine.

That being said I was wondering if I would have to go with a specific brand or if there is ways I can go with a brand of my choice.

You may want to have this thread moved as your question isnt a website issue

Gear ratio woild be dependant on hull, engine RPM, single or dual props, etc.

Depending on HP the 502 is making, you may be out of a Bravo drive into a Bravo XR, or into a Konrad, M6, or other high end drive, maybe a surface drive
