mercruser sterndrives

I have an old boat with Mercruser pre alpha stern drive unit on it Can I replace it with an 888 unit. Both units have the same no of teeth in the upper unit.

Just how old is yer MC-1 drive, 'n what motor is in front of it,..??

An 888 is a "pre alpha". Like Bondo said, we need more information.

The boat is a 1978 searay with a 290 Mercruser engine in it, GM 350 cid The donor boat is a Searay from the same era. with the ford v8 in it.

Ayuh,.... I'd sooner think it's a 260hp, not 290, but anyways,....

Ya, that drive oughta work just Fine,....
