Motor for 1988 Starcraft Islander 221V

Just bought a 1988 Starcraft Islander 221V and I need to replace the existing 3.0 MerCruiser. Will any year MerCruiser fit or should I look for a certain year. Sorry, if this question doesn't make any sense. This is my first boat and I don't have a clue. Thank you!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Any year will fit, But,....
A bobtail drop in motor from 'bout '83 to 1990 will be a plug, 'n play motor,....
Older, 'n ya might need to swap manifolds, or risers,....
Newer, the rear main seal changed 'bout '90/ '91, so the flywheel is also different,.....

It also depends on how much of the ole motor you can use, Vs: a drop-in bobtail motor,.....
Ya might be able to just buy a Long Block instead,....

As another owner of a 1988 221v (my forum name is incorrect slightly) I found this thread helpful, thanks. My motor appears to be fine, it was just something I was curious about.
