the water pump, oil pan and exhaust (not shown) turned out much better. Will post pics again tonight as I ran out of daylight and need to get a harmonic damper installation tool;

starting to polish the shiny bits

Spent $100 at harbor freight, the $50 electric die grinder ($40 with coupon) died within 2 minutes. started to use it, it started getting hot, so I unloaded it, and watched it die a spectacular death in my hand. filled the garage with the smell of magic smoke

so I chucked up the bonnet in the cordless.

going to wrinkle paint the valley of the intake when I am done making it shiny though since there is no way to get the polishing bobs down there and do a good job without sanding it first

heat exchanger inlet and taller T-stat cross-over and water neck on BBC no longer allow a 90 degree hose like I had intended. Need to pick up a 90 degree water neck. Edelbrock 4818 should allow me to plumb the HX with a short piece of straight hose. Will throw that on the CC after the admiral logs in and pays current bill.

old lower rad hose will no longer work. So a few minutes looking up the gates interchange http://www.gates.com/~/media/files/...es-molded-coolant-hose-id-guide_web.pdf?la=en. I settled on Gates 21604 for the lower rad hose. need to trim off an inch.

pulled in a favor with a hydraulic vendor and getting -12 oil hoses and fittings for the cooler and remote filter head..... originally i spec'd out stainless ends. cost of hose and fittings would have been close to $650. so zinc coated steel and adhesive lined heat shrink tubing..... getting it for free.

making a new power steering bracket. going to ditch the stock Volvo bracket and add-on pulley. moving the power steering pump toward the head by 5/8" will allow me to use the one of the twin grooves in the crank and water pump pulley. will be getting billet aluminum crank and WP pulleys as well because the steel units I have have a bunch of dings, pits in them. I did bead blast them and hose them down with paint, however the new damper doesnt pilot the old crank pulley, so will also add that to the CC

I am afraid to add up what i have spent recently. I know in both Grade 8 hardware and stainless hardware, I have spent about $50. that is on top of all the specialty hardware.

new chinese junk aluminum-ish pulleys. needed to send out for hard anodizing. upper pulley has BBC bolt pattern and SBC depth, so needed to fab up another spacer.

anodizing nearly matches the silver paint on the PS pump and pulley
