It's no different than a ski boat conversion from OMC to Mercruiser, the transom work and motor mounts have to be retrofitted to support it.

I believe OMC Cobra conversions are easier than the OMC Stringer outdrive.

If you're keeping the engine from the OMC, I hope you have a GM inline 4 cylinder. I'm fairly sure the Ford 4 cylinder is a no go.

Don't forget, you'll need ALL the mercruiser components. (mercruiser engine mounts, manifold, riser, shift cables, mercruiser control box, trim pump, etc.)

What year OMG motor? 1985 or earlier stringer with the big transom bellows or after 1985 with the cobra drive.

With it being a 1980, you will need yo rebuild the transom for the significantly smaller cutout for the mercruiser.

Ayuh,.... In that case, yer ahead of the game sellin' what ya got, 'n find a donor boat with a 3.0l Merc motor, transom assembly, 'n outdrive,...

Do a pulleys to prop swap,...

Yer 3.0l motor, dressed as an OMC is of no use in the swap,...
