I need to buy a trigger for my 1987 Mercury 200hp. There is a difference in price between the CDI and Sierra and I would like to know if there is any difference in the quality of the two parts. I don't mind spending more for a better product. Just want to know what is the difference. Thanks for any response.

I'd go with the CDI but this is based on limited knowledge. I have a 9.8 with new charge coils and module from CDI and it runs well. I also had to replace all the stator wiring from the points outward...1973 Phasemaker ignition. I sometimes hear negative reports about Sierra products.

I use Serria as it has a lifetime warranty and they will pay me labor to replace or repair it if it fails and the quality is tops!!
