Mercury 7.5 serial number 5936910 fuel leak

Hi, my buddy has a mercury 7.5 outboard and fuel leaks out of the fuel filter like crazy. The problem i have run into is finding the model number. I cannot find the model number anywhere and the serial # that's listed doesnt even show up anywhere. The # is 5936910. The other question is do you need a new filter or is it something else wrong with it causing it to leak? Need help ASAP need to get on the water this weekend.

The motor is a 1982, it probably needs the bottom gasket on the fuel filter housing. Do you have any pictures of the carb? Most likely it just needs to have the gaskets replaced, should be able to get the gaskets in a carb kit.

No i dont have a picture. Do you know a part number or anything for that kit and the price range?

Without knowing the number on that carb, I can't tell you which kit it will take, there is a number on that carb somewhere.
