Hello all. First post here. While in gear, my Merc makes a ticking (clunking?) sound. At lowest throttle position, around 600 or 700 rpm, the tick happens about once per second. It increases in frequency with rpm,s. The noise is not present while in idle. I just changed my impeller and the drive shaft seems to move just fine while off of the boat. The old impeller was intact, so no chunks of rubber anywhere. The noise is difficult to hear at home with the muffs on, but is quite loud when the boat is in the water, as if being in the water magnifies it. I am the original owner and have gently cared for this motor. It has only been used 3 to 4 times per year since new, and has been flawless. Thoughts guys?
