Hi ! Has anyone had success in repairing a cracked gearcase?
It was improperly stored I bought it this way. Q. is there a weld that will adhere to this ? Also it appears that it has separated something inside the prop has a bit of movement and a seal is broken. I have not taken it apart yet. Any wisdom on this subject? thanks steve g

Depends on the location of the split and how badly it has come unglued. A good aluminum welder can often seal them back up, but the castings are often porous and, by extension, saturated with oil, making them difficult to weld. Might be easier to transfer your guts to another housing, or find a used unit on eBay. Id' start by getting it apart and having your local tech take a look. He might have a recommendation on where to go next...

eBay is your friend! Make sure that your cracked case was not due to water infiltration that then froze. If that is the case, the cracked case isn't your only problem.
