'89 35hp running rough

My '89 35hp Merc shuts down at WOT. It's difficult to start, then runs pretty smooth at idle to almost full throttle, but starts to die at full throttle. Then if I back off it runs a little rough for a few seconds then smooths out. I replaced the power pack a couple of years ago but i'm wondering if that is bad again. I have rebuilt the fuel pump, changed plugs, and new fuel filter. I haven't done anything with the carburetor so I was planning on cleaning that next. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

Check your fuel supply pieces.----That means connecter at the motor / all places where there could be a leak / pick-up tube INSIDE your fuel tank.----Difficult to start ?-----What is your starting procedure ?----Is battery and starter motor in good condition ?

Yep, sounds fuel related.... Check your fuel line connections, fuel tank vent, etc.
