1985 Mercury sputters on full throttle

I am very new to boats and motors.so bare with me on words or not knowing what you maybe be telling me.

I have a 1985 50hp mercury.

On full throttle it starts sputtering like it missing or something.
Could it be i need carb kit or just fouled plugs as a car would do.

sometimes its frustrating when no one replies but we all get busy, clean fuel lines ,check plugs, then clean carbs.

First thing to do is a compression test to make sure you have full even compression on all cylinders.. Only then can you go and look at ignition and fuel...
