Can I remove the mid leg of this motor without removing the powerhead from the engine? I have a water leak between the head and the leg and want to change the gasket?

No...

The gasket is under the powerhead. And in order to remove the drive-shaft housing you need to pull the powerhead first anyway....

EDIT: Unless you're talking about a water leak from the head cover gasket, in which case you don't need to remove the powerhead, the cover gasket is easily done by just removing the lower cowling...

It appears to be a leak from the powered gasket, guess I will have to pull the powerhead

Yep... It's not too difficult on those engines...
