Mercury XRI 150 EFI Oil Injection bypass

I recently bought a Ranger with a Mercury 150 serial # 0G19986 . The alarm modual for the motor is bad, and it's an expensive part. I would like to premix and bypass the oil injection and also install a temp guage so there would be no need for the alarm modual. Would it be safe to just replum the outlet of the oil pump back to the onboard reservoir? Also, I have heard of a plastic gear breaking on these oil pumps, is there any danger for the motor if the plastic gear breaks even if the oil injector is bypassed and the gas is premixed?

Is there a guide for installing it, or is it pretty simple?

Pop out the old stuff and pop in the new stuff. The plug holds the oil pump bushing in place so it doesnt fall out and make a mess.
