Since last starting, about 2 months ago, engine will not start. After cleaning battery contacts to get a good turnover, would still not start. Removed plugs and put one on wire and pushed against ground. When the engine first starts to crank will get one or two sparks then nothing on cylinder one. Checked mercury switch, by removing it from the circuit. I also put a plug in other wires and they do not fire, so it is all plugs not firing as apposed to just one or two, What/where do I go next. Seems there is the stator, trigger, and control box, The coils etc would have only a problem on individual cylinders, right?

Yes, It is very likely some of the coils are good. Likely it is bad stator, switchbox or their associated wiring. Pull the stator wires off the rectifier and tape them to insulate them. Now recheck for spark. If you have spark, the rectifier is shorted to ground.

Next step is to visit CDIElectronics web page and look for the ADI ignition troubleshooting procedure.
