I have a 2001, 225 Mercury Optimax. Runs great at 3/4 throttle, but running at full throttle, after a few minutes, the engine starts cutting out, going in and out of power. Could this be a throttle adjustment or clogged fuel filter? Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Sounds a lot like a restriction in fuel flow or a restriction in fuel tank venting.....weak pumps, plugged filters, poor venting, etc.

+1 Give the squeeze bulb a few cycles when this happens and if the problem is solved the above is the answer. If it were a clogged filter it would/should be clogged permanently and your rpm reduction would be constant, not intermittent. To the list of possible problems, add a squeeze bulb and fuel line degradation if your line is the Quicksilver gray silicon looking material and is 10 or so years old. Inside you should find brown residue, like cholesterol in your blood veins that has developed over time as the hose degraded and now has broken free and accumulated in an area....input to the squeeze bulb a good place to do that.
