I have what is called and economizer hose on my carbs on this 115. I have been told to leave it off that it can cause the engine to run lean and damage the motor. Has anyone else heard of this. Thanks Tex51

Lots of disagreement on this one. Some say to plug the hose with a BB. I've never heard to just take it off. In my case my '79 115 runs just fine set up like the factory did it with the hoses in place and not plugged. Over the last 30+ years its had three carb rebuilds a couple of fuel pumps and lots of water pumps. Even replaced those little hoses because they were brittle. But, still runs like new.

Ok. mine is a 78 and the hoses are on the engine and I would guess since new. I got the boat and motor on trade. The good thing is the motor runs but idles rough. I am checking the hoses for vacuum leaks and just replacing all of them due to dry rot and the motor set for 2 years. I have new hose for the economizer so I will put them on. Thanks for the help.
