2000 Mercury 125Hp slipping INTO gear at idle and slipping OUT of gear at high end

Well... basically the title explains it all. The unit slips into gear while idling (not fast, just slowly into gear). And while under power at low end drives fine. However, once gassed up & in the higher RPM range, it seems to be slipping OUT of gear. I checked the gear lube yesterday and only got MAYBE a 1/2 qt tops and it was pure black. I refilled the unit and let it flush for a bit to get more of the black lube out.

Any thoughts?

double check your shift cable make sure its adjusted properly

Looks as though in neutral it was slipping into gear due to low/old gear lube. High end slip was the hub on the prop. everything seems to be all set now.
