I have to change my stator on my 1993 60 HP mercury serial number od21**** and was looking at the one from CDI electronics and wondering about the wire configuration coming out of this stator ???
The original merc stator part number is 398-9710A34 and after researching a few sites the CDI electronics 174-9710K-1 matches this merc stator part # but according to the pictures the CDI elec. stator has 2 extra wires on it.

CDI electronics
2 yellow wires
1 blue wire
1 red wire
1 blue/white wire
1 red/white wire

Mercury Original
2 yellow wires
1 blue wire
1 red wire
1 black ground wire

I believe the stator will be self grounding when bolted to the powerhead but what happens with the remaining blue/wht and red/wht wires.
Is it possible the picture is incorrect or has any one purchased this stator that can give me some intel.

Thanks for the response,
I spoke with tech service at CDI electronics and he answered my question as you did
the red/wht and blue/wht wires do connect to ground and all other connections are the same as original.
He said these stators are for numerous type installations this is why they have the different wires on them . Just follow the installation instructions given.
I just wanted to confirm this before I dished out $300 + dollars
Part ordered and hope to be back on the water in 2 weeks :)
