This one has not been out this year. Checked her out and the volts at the battery connections reads 30V at any RPM.
Your thoughts please.

If your voltmeter is accurate, your regulator is fried. Better replace this, as over-volting will shorten the life of your battery. As well, these regulators have a tendency to get hot enough to melt the wiring harness and in some cases catch fire (when failing). I would suggest the aftermarket replacement from CDI, #194-5279, they seem to dissipate the heat better than OEM.

Even with no regulator the output max is 16v. With a regulator it maxes out at 14.5. You have a bad voltmeter sir. At 30 volts you would have smelled something burning and all the water would have been boiled out of your battery and the box probably too hot to touch and your electronics and wiring in your engine would show signs of overheating and on and on.
