1989 Mariner 60 hp voltage regulator

I am as positive as a non expert can be that I have a voltage regulator problem on my 1989 Mariner 60 hp outboard (gauge reads over 16 volts when motor is running), but I can't locate where the voltage regulator is or do not know if it is a combo regulator/rectifier. Can anyone tell me where to look? If I can find it I can remove it and get it replaced. Thanks.

First, I would verify that your voltmeter is accurate- use a shop voltmeter. If the reading is still 16+ VDC, then your rectifier is indeed screwed. Here's the replacement part, It's bolted to the engine block ( follow the 2 yellow wires from under the flywheel).
