I bought a 1992 Bayliner Trophy with a 1992 Mercury 175HP. It started up great when I bought it. Turned it on and off with no problems multiple times. Brought it home and tried to start it up in my driveway and it just cranks and cranks, but doesn't even try to fire up. I've replaced the plugs, checked the safety switch, added 30 gallons of new fuel, made sure the throttle arm is neutral, but also tried throttling up out of gear, probably a couple other things too. I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Yes it is. This is tha "norm" for starting a carb motor but each one has their own little quirks, Try it if no different then we'll look else where.

Trim it ALL tha way in (down). After pumpin; tha bulb up turn ta start while pushin' tha key in at tha same time. If all is well it will spit, sputter fart or belch. Might even start. When/if it does any of tha above (in a few seconds 10 ta 20), slightly bump tha fast idle a tad. Trim back up to level. Start without tha key depress this time. If after this it doesn't even try to fire then we have another problem............Don't worry 'bout all tha fuel. It takes a lotts fuel to start a COLD carb motor.......

All of this should not be necessary on a warm motor. Just a bump of tha key should start it if all is well...........
