1969 mercury 500 - Not sure if that is correct year & want to order parts

I just bought a pontoon that was sitting a while - trying to "make sure" of the year before I order parts.

There is a mercury 500 thunderbolt outboard

the serial # is 2628575 located on the transom bracket - On the old merc website that co-relates with my engine being a 1969

I recently got the engine started but its not spitting out water so I need a new impeller - also I went to drain the lower unit and nothing came out - no gear lube or water - nothing...

I filled up the lower unit and gear lube started dripping out of the propeller so I also need a prop seal... it dripped out for a alittle bit but stopped - going to replace it anyways

I am trying to find out the year to "make sure" before I start looking for parts - I can not located the freeze plug core plug either.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I store all of my outboards with nothing in the lower unit. I drain the in the fall and refill them in the spring.
