1976 mercury 1500 inline 6

Ok bought a 1500 inline 6 merc 1500 with tilt for a project for 100 buxs (cl speacial) thanks to a few posts i repaired the trim now i wanna hook up controls the wiring is shot so instead of new harness id like to wire it all direct if any one has done this help with a good wire diagram would. Be nice

Ty thats the one and better then iv found now my? Is the white wire ? Is it open circuit to run ?ground to stop? Orange is nothing/ taped off? And again ty for the help

Ty wired247 but as mentioned i only payed 100 bux for whole thing the goal is to only be in it for 250 total and i need controls so the wife will let me get my new seats that are 500 bux

k with the wire diagram i just rebuilt the harness that wasnt to bad ty for ur help so next? Is any set of controls with plug work aka plug and play ?

Most Mercury controls will work for shift and throttle. Electrical can be different as that changed several times over the years. They can usually be grafted, quite easily. The white wire on your motor powers the switchbox with +12VDC. This enables spark. The adjacent red wire is "hot" all the time.

Ty chris i was waiting on that reply when i figured it out this site is amazing the motor is running great besides a few adjustments and needs new impeller now i just need controls and having no luck

Ok update i have all the bugs worked out controls and this thing screams by far most powerfull motor i have ever had the pleasure to drive and the total came in at 345 i bought a fixed jack plate and a aluminum plate 13x18 to mount as this motor is a odd bolt pattern and long shaft so my 250 mark wasnt bad if not for this sites help id say id be in it for triple that ty again
