How big a job is it to replace the seals on the prop shaft of a 1991 40 hp Mercury. Is this something I can do myself? Thank you.

It is not that big of a job but you will need a pulller and a tool to remove the cover nut. Are you sure it is the prop seals leaking. Where is the leak?

Do you have the service manual and if not, what is your engine s/n?

Hi Gerry: Serial # OD129595. There is a small lak where the prop meets the lower unit and it drips down the skeg. I presume it is the seals on the shaft. Yes, I do have Clymers manual. Thanks, Bill
