I think that my 1961 Merc 400E needs the upper and lower seal replaced. I am having trouble with it idling in gear. It will start and idle and when shifted in to gear it dies. Have had it adjusted tied to the dock. Can get it to work all right there but then after a run it will still nott idle right. The other thing is that the primer bulb gets soft while running and after slowing down. Does not seem to make any difference if I pump it while running at full throttle. Also I don't think it is running at full at full RPM.
Does all this lead toward shaft seals. If so is there a video on replacing them.
