I first noticed the issue when my boat started running rough . I pulled all of the spark plugs and noticed the bottom left one was a lot cleaner than the others And also had water droplets on it. After this I pulled the head to check for cracks or maybe a blown head gasket, but everything appeared normal. What else could be causing this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated

If head gaskets were good, go to tha divider plates. Check "both" gaskets. Clean both pieces and check for crack and/or small hole. Especially tha inside piece.........

Well it turns out that there's a small hole in the divider itself, is there any way to repair this or will it have to be replaced?

Not a good number. Should be something like 0Bxxxxxx, 0Cxxxxxx unless its a "replacement" block. Merc stopped numbers only serial numbers long before tha XR4 came about. Is tha divider plate made up with two pieces or is it just one piece?

Two piece, that serial number came off the plate where the motor joins the transom

Powerhead has been replaced more than likely. Is your trim pump in tha boat or on tha clamp bracket itself? They started tha 0 whatever about tha same time tha trim changed. What is different with tha one on ebay compared to yours?

It's In the boat. Mine has a single square hole at the top that the water flows into

Any way you can put up pictures of tha power head? That may describe a VERY early first generation block V6.....Which would go with tha serial number.

Also gotta ask. Where did you get tha XR4 designation?

From the cowling, and it says black Max on each side of the lower unit where it joins to the cowling

Gonna need some pictures. Don't think its an XR4. Think its just a later model cowlin'.............
