I'm looking to see what parts I need to rebuild the carbs. Any help would be appreciated. WHen I look at the parts listing I can't tell which pieces I would need to get. Thanks.

Everything you need comes in a kit. Buy the kit with fuel pump gasket and diaphragm.

Your s/n comes up as:

MARINER - ( 25 H.P. (1989 ))
Serial No: 0C154398 Model No: 7025312PD

Parts list for model 7025312PD:

20 H.P /25 H.P. SEA PRO /MARATHON 25 SUPER 15 - Mercury, Mercruiser, Force, etc. Parts Lookup

You will have to get the carb kit P/N 8237072 which includes everything for the carb as well as the fuel pump.

If you look at the carb under CARBURETOR (25), you will see that it has the primer/injector system. If yours has this installed, then you would also need 9844A1 SERVICE KIT seen as the last item on the page

Thanks for the info and sorry for this stupid follow up question...do I have two carbs and do I need to buy two kits?

Also, how do I know if I need the primer/injection system?

If you don't have the primer injector system on yours, you do not need it.

In the parts list under Carburetor, you will see the Quantity and in your case, it is one.

Re: 1989 Mariner 25hp 2 stroke

Couple more questions - thanks in advance!

1. I want to get new spark plugs, the manual I found says to use NGK BP8H-N-10 33-816737 2. Would I be able to find these in a store somewhere, or are those things I would have to order online?

2. My starter won't engage the flywheel. I've moved it by hand and tried spraying the bendix with WD40. It seems to move ok just by hand, but when I turn it over it won't raise up. Any ideas? Thanks.

Spark plugs hardly ever go bad, forget that for Now. How is your battery. Charged.

Re: 1989 Mariner 25hp 2 stroke

I bought the recommended spark plugs at NAPA last night, and my motor started right up. The old ones that I took out were pretty dirty looking. Battery was at 85% when I put my charger on it, so I can't imagine it doesn't have enough juice to spin the starter fast enough...

Can I take the starter off and take it apart to clean it?
